- The annual Mount Vernon Memorial Day parade will be held May 27 beginning at 10:30 a.m. along East High Street from Center Street to the Public Square. A Memorial Day service will be held on the Square following the parade. WWII veterans are encouraged to participate. For more information contact the Mayor's office at 740-393-9571.

Description:

- NAMI Knox Licking County will be collaborating with NAMI Franklin County this year in the NAMI walk.
The annual NAMI Walk is the biggest mental health awareness raising event in the central Ohio area and is the BEST way to REDUCE stigma and other barriers to care.
Please HELP US to make this year's walk a huge success. Donations from walkers from Knox and Licking County will stay in this affiliate to further our programs -- education, support and advocacy that are so important to our communities and to help families with mental illness put the pieces together. - The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County is ready to dig in to a summer full of books and events for the 2013 “Dig Into Reading” Summer Reading Program at all locations for all ages. Registration begins, Saturday, June 1. At the main library in Mount Vernon, the program themes and dates will be:
“Dig Into Reading” (Children through grade 5), June 1-July 11
“Beneath the Surface” (Youth grades 6-12), June 1-July 11
“Groundbreaking Reads” (Adults age 18 – up), June 1-July 21. The Fredericktown Community Library, Danville Public Library and Gambier Community Library will host their own “Dig Into Reading” Summer Reading Program for all ages from June 1 through July 10
Participants will be eligible for prizes and special incentives throughout the Summer Reading program.
