UPDATE June 15
Kevin Remillard and his attorney went to the MVPD to turn himself in at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Remillard was wanted on a murder warrant for the death of his cousin, Nick Remillard. Kevin advised of some medical issues and was taken by squad to KCH. After being cleared by KCH staff was taken to the county jail.
Bond has been set at $500,000 with no 10% provision. A preliminary hearing has been set for June 26th.
UPDATE: Kevin Remillard is in custody according to Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer as of 4:45 p.m.Wednesday. More information will be reported as it becomes available.
GAMBIER - Sunday afternoon around 12:30 officers responded to the area of 405 Gaskin Avenue to check on the welfare of Kevin Remillard, age 48. An acquaintance in the area had discovered a note along with some of Kevin's property. Officers were unable to locate Kevin or his cousin, Nick Remillard, age 20, at the residence. When officers discovered a possible crime scene inside the house, they secured the area and obtained a search warrant. The Bureau of Criminal Identification was also contacted for assistance in the investigation.
Around 8:45 p.m. Nick, who also lives at the home was discovered by officers deceased in an abandoned pool behind the house. According to a news release from Sheriff David Shaffer, Nick appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound. The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Knox County Coroner and BCI.
Kevin may be in possession of a handgun and should be considered dangerous. A bicycle that he normally rides is also missing from the residence. The bike is black with a front fender and numerous stickers. There may be a milk crate strapped on the back.
As of late Sunday night the crime scene was still being processed.
