Three sentenced on felonies for OVI, Cocaine and Heroin possession

MOUNT VERNON – Three defendants were sentenced Friday by Judge Otho Eyster in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas.

Terry T. Barker, 35, of Columbus, was sentenced for Possession of Cocaine, a third-degree felony, and Possession of Heroin, a fourth-degree felony. Barker was charged as the result of a traffic stop. Barker will serve 30 months of mandatory time for the possession of cocaine, and 17 months concurrently for the possession of heroin. Barker has previously been convicted for multiple counts of possession of drugs, weapons under disability, and trafficking in surrounding counties.

William A. Lemaster, 45, of Centerburg, was resentenced for OVI after violating the conditions of his community control. This was Lemaster’s sixth drunk driving conviction in twenty years. He was sentenced to 17 months in prison and ordered to pay court costs.

Dane E. Ferenbaugh, 34, of Fredericktown, was sentenced for Possession of Heroin, a fifth-degree felony. Ferenbaugh was given three years of community control, a six month license suspension. He must also get a drug and alcohol assessment and submit to drug and alcohol use monitoring. Eleven months of prison has been suspended.

MOUNT VERNON - The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify two suspects involved in cashing fraudulent checks at the Killbuck Bank locations in Howard and Danville on Tuesday May 24, 2016 around 3:00pm. Michelle Bales, 38, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Levi Cunningham, 32, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 12:50 a.m. on Thursday for persisting disorderly conduct.

Robert Balcom, 25, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 5:20 a.m. on Thursday on an outstanding warrant.


Traffic Citations:

Nathaniel Elswick, 33, of Howard was cited at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday for driving under a suspended/revoked license.

Luke Harris, 21, of Mount Vernon was cited at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday for speeding.

Jay Beck, 45, of Mount Vernon was cited at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday for running a red-light.



At 1:05 p.m. on Thursday, an officer responded to an incident involving a juvenile who admitted to using marijuana.  No physical evidence was recovered.

At 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, a victim reported a burglary at a residence on the 200-block of Shirley Avenue.

At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, an officer took a report concerning an assault involving two juveniles that allegedly occurred at the Mount Vernon High School Stadium.  The complaint will be forwarded to the Knox County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office once the investigation has been completed.

Constance Pikaart, 30, of Mount Vernon was cited at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday for driving under a suspended license.

Samuel Stimpert, 77, of Mount Vernon was cited at 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Justin Price, 20, of Mount Vernon was cited at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday for starting and backing a vehicle without insuring it was safe to do so.


At 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Brandy N. Parker, 29, of Fredericktown was traveling westbound on W. High Street in his 2004 Ford Expedition. Samuel Stimpert, 77, of Mount Vernon was immediately behind him in her 2012 Dodge 1500. When Parker slowed down near Lewis Street, Stimpert rear-ended her. Stimpert was cited for the incident.

At 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Justin Price, 20, of Mount Vernon was heading northbound on N. Catherine Street in his 2003 Hyundai Elantra. He stopped at a stop-sign at Coshocton Avenue, moved forward into the intersection, then stopped and began to back up. When he did so, he backed into a 2001 Buick LeSabre driven by Sandra Bushong, 68, of Mount Vernon. Price was cited for the incident.


At 2:05 a.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a reported disturbance at an apartment on the 700-block of Follin Avenue. A suspect was arrested for aggravated menacing and a folding pocket knife was collected as evidence.

At 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, a resident of the 700-block of N. Sandusky Street filed a trespassing complaint. An officer collected written statements and informed the complainant how to obtain a copy of the report and how to contact the City Law Director’s Office to pursue charges if she desires.
