MOUNT VERNON - September 16, 2014 at 3:54 p.m. Knox County Deputies were called to check the welfare of a child on Rabbit Ridge Rd. The complaint was the child was left home alone. Deputies arrived to find the front door closed but unlocked. A search of the residence revealed a 19 month old in a crib in a bedroom. While at the residence dispatch advised that the Mount Vernon Police Department had the mother and boyfriend on a traffic stop. Through investigation it was found that both subjects knowingly left the child home alone for over two hours.
Both, the mother, 23 year old Charity L. Custer and the boyfriend, 22 year old Donald Wayne Burch Frum were arrested for child endangerment and transported to the Knox County Jail. A grandparent was contacted and took custody of the child with the assistance of Childrens Services.
