MOUNT VERNON - The 33rd annual Food for the Hungry Drive raised over $168,987.90 and 61.9 truckloads of food. The effort culminated with an eight-hour broadcast Saturday on Time Warner Cable and 13 WMVO. Food and funds raised will be distributed to the needy by the Salvation Army and Interchurch Social Services and several local hunger relief programs.

Following the drive, FFTH drive coordinator Lisa Mazzari said, "I'm simply amazed once again by Knox County and the outpouring of generosity and kindness. Thank you so much to everyone." Mazzari was assisted by Emily Boggs.

Commmunity partners who worked on this year's Food for the Hungry drive include WMVO/WQIO, Nelson & Nelson CPA's, The Mount Vernon News, Time Warner Cable, WNZR, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Kenyon College, Knox County Career Center, First Knox National Bank,  I-CONN Video Production, Psi Iota Xi, Delta Kappa Gamma, Rotary, KnoxPages.com, and the Rollin' Buckeyes/Audrey Spearman.
