MOUNT VERNON - On January 19, 2015, the 12th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast will be held in the Thomas Dining Hall in Pierce Hall of Kenyon College from 9:00 – 11:00 am. This event is free and open to the public; RSVP is required by January 15.
The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Breakfast is sponsored by The MLK Legacy Committee, Kenyon College, and Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The event will feature essays, music, keynote speaker Paula S. Carter, and a presentation of The Beulah Apostolic Award of Excellence.
Keynote speaker Paula S. Carter recently retired as the Manager of Procurement Diversity and Inclusion of Honda North America, after beginning her career with Honda thirteen years ago. Prior to Honda, Paula was located in Toledo, Ohio, for twenty-five years and worked in Contract Administration and the Purchasing Department at Teledyne CAE. She has also worked in supervisory roles at the Marysville Auto Plant, the East Liberty Auto Plant, and the Cost Procurement Management Group.
Carter has served as Chairperson for the South Central Ohio Minority Business Council and serves as a board member for The Ohio Assembly of Councils and Central State University. She was a member of the Automotive Industry Group and host for the 2006 Ohio Business Opportunity Fair. After retiring from Honda in 2013, she established a consulting business in supply chain management and small business diversity training.
Other notable awards that Carter has received include the Rainbow PUSH Award, October, 2010; the Corporate Trading Partner Award presented by the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.; and the Martin L. King, Esq. She has also received numerous awards from minority and women’s organizations and has been recognized for her excellence in leadership and her devoted service in business development.
