DANVILLE - More than 30 local business will open extended hours when the inaugural Ladies Night Out hits the streets of Danville on Friday, May 8, 5-8 p.m. Themed “A Celebration of Mothers & Daughters” the event is designed to create awareness of Danville area businesses, encourage citizens to experience their community and to celebrate Mother’s Day. Mothers, daughters and friends will enjoy special discounts, spa services, refreshments and sampling from participating businesses.
Ladies who visit at least 10 of the 30 participating businesses will be eligible to win a major gift basket compliments of the businesses. Punch cards, maps and a listing of event specials will be available in all venues, so visitors can start their evening at any participating business in town.
Visitors to the event will enjoy the upbeat gospel and bluegrass sounds of Chestnut Ridge Band from the outdoor stage at the Blonde Robin, on Market Street. Former Knox Idol winners Corie Inverso and Michael Simmons will also perform. Other local musicians will be featured at businesses..
In conjunction with Ladies Night Out, the Danville Public Library will present the Story of Wally Walhonding Valley Railroad book discussion at St. Luke Community Center at 6 p.m. Discussion leaders will be J.E. Sharp, author of the book along with locals David Greer, John Bross and Buck Laughery. This event is free and open to the public.
Ample parking is available in nearby lots, side streets and the Memorial Park. Visitors are encouraged to park, then walk to area business to add to the celebration of evening. Limited ATV transportation is also available to transport visitors up and down Market Street.
