Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio

MOUNT VERNON –A new Knox County Grand Jury was seated by Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster on Monday, and the group of nine jurors issued nineteen indictments, two of which were issued under seal. According to Prosecuting Attorney Chip McConville, the charges included felonious assault, perjury and escape.

Richard A. Henderson, 33, of Mount Vernon was indicted on five counts of Felonious Assault, felonies of the second degree, two counts of Endangering Children and Domestic Violence, misdemeanors of the first degree.The indictment alleges that Henderson used his vehicle to ram into another vehicle occupied by his wife and children. This case was investigated by Cpl. Reginald Young of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Richard L. Keylor, Jr., 32, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Theft, Theft from an ElderlyPerson, and Forgery, all felonies of the fifth degree. Keylor is accused of stealing forging a $230.00 check from his aunt’s account. This case was investigated by Dep. Jason Wilson of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

James E. Hess, Jr., 39, of Mount Vernon was indicted for two counts of Theft, felonies of the fifth degree. Hess is accused of stealing tools out of two work trucks with a total value of over $3,500. This case was investigated by Ptl. Nick Myrda of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Roberta J. Chafin, 52, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree. The indictment alleges that Chafin backed over a man multiple times with her car causing serious physical injury. This case was investigated by Ptl. Nick Holdren of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Melissa J. Stander, 40, of Danville was indicted for Passing Bad Checks and Receiving Stolen Property. The indictment alleges Stander wrote ten checks totaling $6,310.00 at First Knox National Banks, and all were returned for insufficient funds. This case was investigated by Det. Cpl. Beth Marti of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Aaron I. Wolfe, 35, was indicted for Violating a Protection Order. Wolfe previously has been convicted of violating a protection order involving the same victim.This case was investigated by Sgt. Alan Dexter of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Ami Friley, 25, of Mount Vernon,was indicted on two counts of Theft, one felony of the fifth degree and a misdemeanor of the first degree. Jacklyn Wallace, 21, of Mount Vernon was indicted on two counts of Receiving Stolen Property, one felony of the fifth degree and a misdemeanor of the first degree.The indictment alleges that Friley and Wallace made over $2,000 in fraudulent charges. This case was investigated by Dep. Michael Rutherford of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Brian Jose, 32, of Fredericktown, was indicted on two counts of Grand Theft of a Firearm, felonies of the third degree, and one count of Theft, a felony of the fifth degree. Jose is accused of stealing a Ruger 1911 and Smith and Wesson 6909 from Kenneth and Debbie Reedalong with ammunition and jewelry. This case was investigated by Dep. Scott Baker of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Amber Myers, 35, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Corrupting Another with Drugs, a felony of the second degree, and Trafficking in Heroin, a felony of the fifth degree. The indictment alleges that on multiple occasions Myers administered Heroin to juveniles. This case was investigated by Dep. Dan Bobo of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Travis Ratcliff, 34,of Mount Vernon was indicted on two counts of Theft and two counts of Forgery, all felonies of the fifth degree. Ratcliff is accused of attempting to cash stolen checks at First Knox National Bank totally over $2,500. This case was investigated by Det. Tim Arnold of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Jennifer Gaietto, 33, of Fredericktown was indicted for Possession of Cocaine, a felony of the fifth degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.The indictment alleges that Gaietto was found in possession of less than 0.10 grams of cocaine. This case was investigated by Ptl. Ryan Ball of the Fredericktown Police Department.

Vernon D. Reynolds, 50, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Perjury, a felony of the third degree. The indictment alleges that Reynolds made false statement under oath, during his Mount Vernon Municipal Court trial for domestic violence and child endangering in February. This case was investigated by Det. Sgt. Matt Dailey of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Warren B. Taylor, Jr., 37, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Identity Fraud, a felony of the fourth degree. The indictment alleges Taylor fraudulently used his previous employer’s business account to charge $1,136.96 in auto parts. This case was investigated by Cpl. Travis Tharp of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Grant T. Looney, 36, of Mount Vernonhas been indicted for Abusing Harmful Intoxicants, a felony of the fifth degree, and Domestic Violence, a misdemeanor of the second degree. The indictment alleges that Looney was huffing an aerosol substance and threatened his girlfriend in an incident that occurred on April 29th. This case was investigated by Cpl. Travis Tharp.

Brandon G. D. Chaffin, 22, of Mount Vernon was indicted for Escape, a felony of the fifth degree. Chaffin was under arrest for misdemeanor charges but led law enforcement on a chase into downtown Mount Vernon after running from the police garage. Chaffin was apprehended on the roof of a downtown business. This case was investigated by Ptl. Brian Durbin of the Mount Vernon Police Department.

Curtis Dean Looney, Jr., 32 of Mount Vernon was indicted for Burglary, a felony of the third degree. The indictment alleges that Looney trespassed and entered into Danville home on April 13th, taking jewelry and other items. This case was investigated by Det. James Ferenbaugh of the Knox County Sheriff's Office.


Arraignments in these cases will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Knox County Common Pleas Court.
