MOUNT VERNON - A weekend of celebration for the Foundation Park Conservancy kicks-off Friday morning at 11 a.m. as the Herb Rock Plaza at the CA&C Depot is dedicated.
The ceremony marks the completion of work on the south platform of the depot where the Heart of Ohio Trail will soon conjoin with the Kokosing Gap Trail. Bob and Joann Rock of Chattanooga, TN, will join Mayor Richard Mavis, Conservancy Chair Kim Rose, CA&C Depot Project Manager Michael Percy, and former Conservancy Chair Phil Samuell for the official plaque unveiling in honor of Herb Rock.
Herb Rock, a life-long Columbus Road resident, devoted his retirement to community service, in particular patriotic endeavors and volunteer maintenance duties along the Kokosing Gap Trail. His lifetime of philanthropy has been honored by his brother and sister-in-law with a major contribution to the depot restoration effort.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony on the plaza.
