FREDERICKTOWN - During the early morning hours on Tuesday, subjects forced entry into two sheds along Mt. Vernon Ave and stole numerous items. By Tuesday evening the Fredericktown Police Department recovered the stolen items.

Fredericktown Police Chief Roger Brown said the subjects forced entry into the two sheds and removed property that included: air compressors, cordless tools, hand tools, chainsaws, weed eaters, fishing pools, fishing gear and tackle. Once the items were removed from the sheds, they were taken to separate locations along the bike trail and stashed in wooded areas.

Early Tuesday afternoon, a resident notified the police department that a suspicious vehicle was seen in the area West First Street. Once the vehicle left the area, the resident checked the woods and discovered three chainsaws, two weed eaters and two cordless tool boxes.

On Tuesday evening, Patrolman Matt White was investigating a suspicious person complaint on the bike trail, when he discovered two males exiting a wooded area. Upon further investigation, White recovered the remaining reported stolen property.

"The most frustrating part in law enforcement today is, people failing to report suspicious activity," Chief Brown said. "I was told Tuesday afternoon that at least three residents along the bike trail heard and or saw persons on the trail during the early morning hours on Tuesday, but they failed to contact law enforcement to report the activity."

“If you See or Hear Something Suspicious, Say Something."
