MOUNT VERNON - Residents can drop off unwanted, unused or unwanted prescription medications with no questions asked on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pills should be emptied into baggies. No inhalers or injectables will be accepted. This drop off is a collaboration of the Mount Vernon Police Department, the Knox County Health Department and the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team. 

These events are held regularly to help rid the community of medications that may cause accidental poisoning, be flushed or trashed polluting our waters.

If you can't make it to the event on September 26th, you can drop off pills anytime at the Knox County Sheriff's Office at 11540 Upper Gilchrist Road or the Mount Vernon Police Department at  5 N. Gay Street.
