COLUMBUS – Special Agent in Charge Angela L. Byers of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced Thursday that Matthew Dailey, 44, of Howard, a detective with the Mount Vernon Police Department, was arrested by the FBI and law enforcement partners on a criminal complaint. Dailey has been on administrative leave since September 18th.

The criminal complaint alleges Dailey used his position with the MVPD to extort others, traffic in narcotics, and use a firearm while committing drug trafficking crimes.

SAC Byers thanked the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their ongoing work in this investigation. She also expressed appreciation to Chief Roger Monroe and the Mount Vernon Police Department for their cooperation in this matter.
