MOUNT VERNON – For the 5th year, the musicians of Knox County are presenting a program of Chautauqua Style Musical Legends featuring Bob Dylan, Peter Paul & Mary and Joan Baez with a special appearance by the Kokosing River Surf Club. The program is part of the annual FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY campaign and will be held at the Memorial Theater [112 E. High Street in Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050] on Friday December 4 at 7 PM [doors open at 6:30 PM].
Concert organizer Mike Petee said, “I am so pleased that the amazing musicians of this area continue to want to share their talents and help our neighbors this season. How we do this is to provide a musical evening like you can see and hear nowhere else. In the past we’ve had tributes to The Beatles, Buddy Holly, The Doors, Janis Joplin and CCR and this year we bring you Bob Dylan solo and with a backing band, Peter Paul & Mary and Joan Baez. It is rewarding in so many ways in that we play some great music, collect for FOOD FOR THE HUNGRY. If unable to give, the public is still encouraged to attend as a Christmas gift from the musicians of Knox County to our community.
The show is family friendly and we invite everyone to share an evening of wonderful music and wonderful community sharing.”
The event is sponsored by Elixir’s Chautauqua Series, the Knox County Commissioners, Ariel Foundation, Siemens and so many behind the scenes contributors, too many to thank in this article.
Cost for the event is non-perishable food items [see www.foodforthehungrycares.org for top ten needs] and/or cash or checks and remember that every $1 donated provides $10 worth of food from the Mid-Ohio food bank.
