MOUNT VERNON -- An 84 year old Knox County man surprised two men allegedly stealing a washer and dryer from his Salem Road, Fredericktown home. According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, James Duncan, 22, and Michael Goines, 30, both of Mount Vernon are accused of breaking and entering. The property owner allegedly fired a round from a .22 caliber pistol into the ground, demanded the men's identification and then called the Sheriff's office.

The Knox County Grand Jury returned five other indictments, on Monday. Arraignments in the cases will be held before Judge Otho Eyster in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas, on November 15 at 9 a.m.

Donald E. Souder, 66, Utica, was indicted on a charge gross sexual imposition for allegedly having sexual contact with a 32 year old developmentally disabled woman, on October 25. Thatcher said the charge alleges Souder knew or should have known that the woman’s ability to consent to the sexual contact was substantially impaired because of her mental condition. Detective James Ferenbaugh, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.

According to the indictment, Michael A. Puluso, 29, Mount Vernon, is facing his second charge of failing to register as a sex offender. Puluso is accused of failing to notify the Sheriff that he changed his address, on or about October 18. Puluso was convicted of failing to register his address, in 2012, and he was convicted of gross sexual imposition, in 2008. Deputy Daniel Selby investigated the case.

Daniel A. Dales, 31, Mount Vernon, was indicted on six count of drug trafficking and possession. Thatcher said on August 13, Deputy Selby allegedly found quantities of heroin, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and marihuana in Dales’ vehicle during a traffic stop, on Columbus Road.

According to the indictment, Christina M. Ferrell, 24, Centerburg, is facing her second domestic violence charge since August, when she was convicted of domestic violence in Licking County. Ferrell is accused of assaulting a family member, on October 16.
