MOUNT VERNON - The public is invited to a free seminar “MIND Estranged: My Journey from Schizophrenia and Homelessness to Recovery,” presented by Bethany Yeiser. Her memoirs of this amazing journey are noted in her first book by the same name. You will hear Bethany’s story from her point of view and then as an extra bonus, you will hear Bethany’s story from her mother Karen’s point of view as recorded in her book, “Flight from Reason.” Both books are available at the Mount Vernon Public Library.

The seminar is free and is being made possible by Mental Health and Recovery Licking and Knox County who is sponsoring the event as facilitated by The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Knox Licking County.

Before her life-changing descent into schizophrenia, Bethany will tell of her journey as a promising university honors student down to the seemingly bottomless pit of madness, and back to a place where she is once again functioning with the expectation of once again meeting the demands of every day challenges and pursuing her life goals.

No reservations are needed. The event will be held May 12, 2016 and begin promptly at 6:30 p.m., at the Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) Jetter School of Business Building. The MVNU is a non-smoking campus. Space is limited; registration for the event will begin at 5:45 p.m.  Refreshments will be served. For questions please call 740-397-3088.
