MOUNT VERNON - At last night's city council meeting, 2nd ward councilman John Francis spoke out about the drug problem in his neighborhood and throughout the city and put dealers on notice.
During remarks following the legislative portion of the meeting Francis said, "I raised two kids in my neighborhood that was a great place to raise kids. In the last seven years I've seen it dimish and I'm done with it. As a councilman I'm gonna do everything in my power to make life miserable to anybody that's dealing heroin and dope in the neighborhoods of the city. When I have citizens of my ward knock on my door and tell me how scared they are talking to me."
And then turning and speaking directly to the city hall camera he said, "You can run but you can't hide because you will be found, you will be prosecuted and, hopefully, we run you out of our city. Most of the neighborhoods in this city are tired of it."
