FREDERICKTOWN – On Friday, May 12, the American Red Cross, in partnership with Kokosing Construction, and the Fredericktown City Schools, will be hosting an all community-wide 250 goal blood drive. This blood drive is an opportunity for the local businesses and organizations to come together to make a huge difference in Knox County.
This special blood drive will be from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm in the gymnasium of Fredericktown High School. They still have 50 spots available to fill.
All who come to give blood will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone and a Columbus Zoo BOGO entry offer as well as be entered into a weekly drawing for four (4) passes to Zoombezi Bay Waterpark. All presenting donors with valid email addresses will also have a chance to win one of three $1,000 gift card shopping sprees from GiftCertificates.com.
As a partner agency of United Way of Knox County, they will also have food provided by Pizza Dock and other restaurants. This drive is designed to help the Red Cross maintain healthy blood inventories as we enter the difficult summer months. Blood and platelet donors of all types are needed to ensure blood products are available for patients now and into the summer season. This is also a scholarship drive for the high school.
Although appointments are preferred, walk-ins will be accepted but may experience longer wait times.
Eligible donors are urged to schedule an appointment to give by using the Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org, sponsor code FredericktownHS or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Donors can save time by using RapidPass to complete your pre-donation reading and health history online before you come to your appointment. Learn more at redcrossblood.org/RapidPass.
Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent in Ohio), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
