MOUNT VERNON — Jason Booth, Knox County administrator, cautions county residents to be on the lookout for a scam using the Knox County 9-1-1 number.
A resident reported that at 3:23 p.m. on July 20, she received a call with Knox County 911 showing on her caller ID. The caller said the resident won a trip because of a recent stay in a hotel.
Booth said this is the only report he has received about this particular scam. Residents receiving a similar call should report it to the Knox County Sheriff's Office at 740-397-3333 or to Booth at 740-393-6703.
