MOUNT VERNON - A Mount Vernon City Schools bus, driven by Mark Robison, was traveling south on Newark Road Monday afternoon when it was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Newark Road and Commerce Drive. The second vehicle was driven by Leona M. Williamson.
According to the police report released Wednesday the accident was witnessed by one driver stopped at Lakeview Drive and Newark Road. That witness stated that Robison went through the intersection against a red light. Williamson, who the witness said, had the green light, struck the bus in the center front region. The report had Robison traveling at the posted speed limit of 45 mph. Robison was cited for running a red light.
There were four reported with possible injuries and were treated at the scene. Two others had injuries that required transportation by the Mount Vernon Fire Department EMS Unit to Knox Community Hospital for treatment.
