MOUNT VERNON - Knox County Head Start is offering a free parenting training for expectant parents and parents of infants and toddlers. The two-hour session, “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child” will be held on Tuesday, Sept 12, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at New Hope Early Education Center, 11700 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon.
Renee Sutherland, LISW-S, Child Mental Health Coordinator for Knox County Head Start, will present this training on helping children learn good sleep habits at a young age this important to their physical and emotional wellbeing. This training will help parents learn effective strategies for helping their infant or toddler learn to accept bed time as a part of the daily routine and to learn the skill of falling asleep on their own.”
Ms. Sutherland, a Certified Conscious Discipline® Instructor and an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant, trains parents and educators in Ohio and nationwide.
Knox County Head Start staff will provide free child care and dinner for parents and children during the session. To help attendees defray transportation costs, participants will receive $10 at the end of the training. If parents need transportation, KCHS will partner with KAT to provide rides to and from the training.
