MOUNT VERNON - City Councilman John Francis will host the second of three planned "Meet and Greet" events to talk with constituents. All are invited to the new shelter at Riverside Park Sunday, September 17 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Francis said, "The purpose of the meet and greet is to keep my promise that I made to do all I can as a City Council person, you elected, and as a citiizen of this city to make this city great. This allows your voice to be heard and for you to ask quesions and express your concerns."
Francis says this event will help neighbors connect with each other.
At the first such event in August Francis heard concerns from parents and neighbors about the drug epidemic plaguing the community.
Residents are encouraged that if they see drug activity, or anything criminal going on, to call the MVPD tip line at 740-393-9500. The Knox County Sheriff's Office tipline is 740-399-3959. These numbers are for non-emergency calls. Residents should call 9-1-1 in a life threatening emergency.
