MOUNT VERNON - The OSU Alumni Club of Knox County will be holding their annual Scholarship Fundraiser on Tuesday October 24, 2017 at The Glenn A Gallagher Center. The family friendly tailgate event will feature OSU Alumni Football great Cornelius Green.
Greene played under coach Woody Hayes. He was the first African American quarterback to start at Ohio State. As a sophomore, he was named the starter at quarterback over Greg Hare. He was named Big 10 Conference MVP for the 1975 season, when his teammate Archie Griffin became the first two-time Heisman Trophy winner. He compiled a 31-2-1 record in the regular season, played in 4 Rose Bowls (3 as the starting quarterback), won the 1974 Rose Bowl against USC, won three Big Ten Championships and led the team to an undefeated season in 1973. In addition to Corney’s keynote address there will be an uplifting visit from TBDBITL …The Ohio State University Marching Band will work the audience into a GO BUCKS frenzy.
Silent and Live auctions will be help with all funds raised going into the OSU Alumni Club of Knox County Scholarship Fund. Knox County students from all Knox County High Schools may apply for this scholarship by visiting their local high school guidance counselor for the application.
