MOUNT VERNON - Join the fun on Sunday afternoon, October 1st at 3:00 P.M.  The Knox County Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Locke, will present a free Children’s Concert entitled Music and Dance.  

The concert will take place at the Schnormeier Event Center at Ariel Foundation Park. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be performed at Rosse Hall on the campus of Kenyon College. Check for updates at www.knoxcountysymphony.org.

Kenyon College’s Gund Gallery will be providing art activities to accompany the concert.  Members of the Kenyon College Ballroom Dance Club will be demonstrating a variety of ballroom dances. Following the concert, there will be a cookie and cider reception and an opportunity to meet the musicians.

The musical selections include Johann Strauss’s On the Beautiful Blue Danube, Johann & Josef Strauss’s Pizzicato Polka, Johann Strauss’s Thunder and Lightning Polka,

Johannes Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 5, Aaron Copland’s Hoe-Down from Rodeo,

Reinhold Gliere’s Russian Sailor's Dance, and Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to West Side Story.
