Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio

Incidents: Just before noon on Friday, a victim reported that her credit cards had been fraudulently used to make $928.62 worth of purchases.  A suspect was identified.

At 10:05 p.m. on Friday, a victim reported the theft of $300.00 in cash and a number of state-issued ID cards from a parked vehicle on the 000-block of Ash Street.

At 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a reported assault at an apartment on the 000-block of W. Chestnut Street.  A suspect was arrested and several Colt airsoft pistols and a slingshot were collected as evidence.

At 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a reported alarm at a vacant house on the 300-block of N. McKenzie Street.    They checked the residence and everything appeared to be secure and in order.  The alarm appeared to be emanating from a smoke detector with a low battery.  The realtor could not be reached but the dispatcher left a message.

At 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a reported assault that occurred at a residence on the 700-block of N. Sandusky Street.  A suspect was identified.

At 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of domestic violence at a residence on the 000-block of Vaughan Court.  A suspect was identified.

 

Arrests and Charges: Joshua Parker, 20, of Gambier was charged at 4:20 a.m. on Thursday with possession and consumption of alcohol by a minor.

A 13-year-old juvenile was arrested at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday for assault.

David Prosser, 51, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 9:05 p.m. on Thursday on an outstanding warrant.

Caleb Hastings, 21, of Mount Vernon was arrested just before 7:00 a.m. on Saturday for assault.

Jordan Platt, 27, of Mount Vernon was arrested at 1:50 a.m. on Sunday on a warrant for violating the terms of his house arrest.

Traffic Citations:

Alan Snode, 70, of Mount Vernon was cited at 10:20 a.m. on Friday for failing to devote full time and attention to the road.

Edward Stickle, 86, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:15 p.m. on Friday for failing to drive in marked lanes.

Danielle Carr, 25, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:45 p.m. on Friday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Kyle Bell, 30, of Mount Vernon was cited at 5:15 p.m. on Friday for running a stop-sign.

Andrew Kempen, 16, of Mount Vernon was cited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Mary Hysell, 55, of Mount Vernon was cited at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and for failing to stop after a crash on the street.

Thomas Glick, 22, of Mount Vernon was cited at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday for failing to assure a clear driving-distance ahead.

Accidents: At 10:20 a.m. on Friday, Alan Snode, 70, of Mount Vernon was traveling west on Beech Street in his 2007 Kia Spirit.  Between Hilltop Drive and Poplar Street, he fell asleep behind the wheel, left the left side of the roadway, and went into a ditch.  Snode was cited for the incident.

At 1:20 p.m. on Friday, Edward L. Stickle, 86, of Mount Vernon was heading southbound in his 1990 Buick Century in the middle lane of S. Main Street just south of Phillips Drive.  Aaron A. Hobart, 24, of Mount Vernon was in the left lane in his 2014 Honda Civic.  Stickle attempted to change lanes and struck Hobart’s vehicle.  Stickle was cited for the incident.

At 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Danielle D. Carr, 25, of Mount Vernon was traveling on Coshocton Avenue in her 2000 Dodge Neon.  Carl E. Sawyer, 72, of Milford Center was immediately in front of her in his 2011 Honda Odyssey.  When Sawyer slowed for traffic near Hilltop Drive, Carr rear-ended him.  Carr was cited for the incident.

At 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Kyle B. Bell, 30, of Mount Vernon was heading eastbound on Adamson Street in his 1997 GMC Sierra.  David L. Ketner, 79, of Mount Vernon was traveling northbound on Newark Road in his 2004 Toyota Avalon.  At the intersection of those streets, Bell failed to see Ketner, crossed Newark Road out of turn, and Ketner struck his vehicle in the side.  Bell was cited for the incident.

At 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, Mary J. Hysell, 55, of Mount Vernon was traveling eastbound on E. Gambier Street in her 2001 Kia Spirit.  John R. White, 37, of Mount Vernon was immediately in front of her in his 2011 Chevy M/L.  Both units slowed for the traffic-light at the S. Gay Street intersection but, in the process, Hysell rear-ended White.  Hysell was cited for the incident.

At 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, Anthony L. Beach, 22, of Mount Vernon was riding his bicycle eastbound on the north sidewalk of East Gambier Street.  An unknown driver was stopped at the red-light on S. Gay Street at the E. Gambier Street intersection.  Beach crossed the street in the crosswalk and the unknown driver struck the rear-wheel of the bicycle before fleeing the scene.
