MOUNT VERNON - Incumbent Republican City Council member Nancy R. Vail has filed petitions to seek re-election to City Council as the Third Ward representative.
In a news release Vail says "[My] primary interests are retention of representative government and preservation of the freedoms we all enjoy as American citizens. Extensive experience on the Mount Vernon City Council provides Mrs. Vail with valuable familiarity with the functions of City Government and responsibilities of all Council Committees."
The news release continues "She faithfully attends meetings of City appointed Boards and Commissions as well as all Council meetings, and researches detail for logical participation in Council discussions and decision making. In addition to ongoing determinations, every year presents new challenges requiring logical analysis and action. Nancy encourages and appreciates contact from constituents who may have questions, needs, thoughts, or comments regarding our Mount Vernon City Government, and responds in truth after investigation and seeking of a resolution when needed."
Although representing the Residents of Third Ward and upholding their trust is first and foremost, she also participates in other community activities including, but not limited to, Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, Knox County Republican Women's Club (President 2013 thru 2015), Community Concerts Association Board of Directors (former President, current Recording Secretary), Daughters of the American Revolution (Regent May 2010-June 2012), Soroptimists International, Downtown Heritage Center Association, Knox County Visitors Bureau, and Knox County Regional Planning Commission (Land Use Chairman). Our government is of the people, by the people, and for the people of our community; never hesitate to call Nancy with your questions, concerns, and comments."
