MOUNT VERNON - Fans of the television show “The Amazing Race” will be excited to participate in Mount Vernon’s very own “Downtown Dash” during First Friday on October 2nd. During this fast paced race around downtown teams of two will be challenged to complete tasks at nearly one dozen local businesses.
Prizes of cash, merchandise and gift cards will be awarded for top finishing teams. This event is family friendly and designed for ages 8 and up. It is free and open to the public. Registration will take place at 112 South Main Street from 6-6:20 pm, with the event beginning at 6:30.
The event is hosted by the Knox County Renaissance Foundation. For more information contact [email protected]
First Friday will also feature the Classic Car Cruise In and the sounds of Eric Bressi as Elvis on the main stage. Folk music will waft through the fall air from Sarah Goslee Reed on the south stage, sponsored by Ver-Mac. Get ready to howl with the Dog-tober fest costumed dog parade at 7pm. See WNZR's Big Blue for registration for both the parade and for their Carefree Cleaning Company prize pack.
