GAMBIER - The 100th anniversary year of the Knox County Chamber of Commerce kicks off Friday night with the annual dinner and awards ceremony. The event will be held at the Kenyon Athletic Center. 400 reservations were made for this formal event.

Ten awards will be given out. The following were nominated by Chamber members:

Environmental Sustainability Award - given to a business embracing green practices

  • KAT (Knox Area Transit)
  • Knox County Health Department
  • Owl Creek Conservancy

Heart Award - given to a building or architectural design that complements the community, a new build or renovation

  • Kahrl & Company
  • Ariel Arena at MVNU
  • Mount Vernon Grand Hotel

Quality of Life Award - a non-profit that enriches the lives of Knox County residents

  • Foundation Park Conservancy
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • New Hope Industries (new name Catalyst)

Paul Slaughter Volunteer of the Year Award - given to person who volunteers for Chamber and in the community

  • Clint Bailey - Critchfield law firm
  • Terry Walter, SCORE - small business counseling
  • Vickie Sant - President, First Knox National Bank

Investor in the Future - a business that has truly made an investment in Knox County

  • Knox County Head Start
  • The Muskingum Valley Council Boys Scouts of America
  • Westie Productions

Woman in Business Leadership - role model for women and encourages them to achieve their leadership potential

  • Joan Jones, President and CEO of Peoples Bank of Gambier
  • Kimberly Peck, Killbuck Savings Bank
  • Susan Delozier, Owner, Pak Mail

Small Business of the Year (fewer than 50 employees) - Business known for integrity, fair business practices,
