NEWARK – Calling hours for Officer Thomas Cottrell Jr. will be held at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st St. Newark, Ohio on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm.

During the hours of 1pm to 8pm N. 21st St will be closed between Meadowbrook Dr. and Jackson Blvd. Thru access will only be for those attending the calling hours. Access will be maintained to area businesses. Local thru traffic is advised to use Mt. Vernon Rd or King Rd as alternate routes. Commercial traffic is to use State Routes.

The funeral for Officer Cottrell will be held at the OSUN/COTC Campus in Adena Hall, located at 1179 University Dr. Newark, Ohio on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00am.

Those attending the funeral should use the north entrance located on Country Club Dr. Those not planning to attend the graveside service can park at the Evans Complex on Sharon Valley Rd. where shuttles will be provided.

Immediately after Officer Cottrell's funeral service the procession will leave the OSUN/COTC Campus and proceed west on Granville Rd. to Country Club Dr, where the motorcade will turn North onto Country Club Dr. The motorcade will proceed to Sharon Valley Rd. and turn West onto Sharon Valley Road to Welsh Hills Road. The procession will then turn North onto Welsh Hills Rd. towards Price Rd. The procession will then turn East onto Price Rd and proceed to N. 21st St where it will turn left to State Route 13 (Mt. Vernon Rd.). The motorcade will then travel North on SR13 to the cemetery. SR 657 will be closed between Dry Creek Rd and Chestnut Hills Rd.

It should be known that hundreds of emergency vehicles will be participating in the motorcade for Officer Thomas Cottrell. Anyone in the area should expect long delays and several road closures. Affected routes are those listed in the procession route and any roadways that intersect the procession route.

The community is encouraged to park or stand safely along the procession route to honor Officer Cottrell's service and sacrifice. Suggested areas include Levin Park on Sharon Valley Rd. and CTEC on Price Rd.
