MOUNT VERNON - Those who are planning the future of downtown Mount Vernon are inviting residents or anyone who has an opinion to attend a public focus group on Wednesday, October 4th at 5:30 p.m. in the ballroom of the Memorial Theater. Whether it's more shops, restaurants, or something else, ideas are welcome.
Jeff Harris of the Mount Vernon Development Company, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, says the idea is to hear what people want downtown so that planning can go forward. The event will feature renderings and audio visiual presentations by Harris's group as well as from the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Main Street Mount Vernon (formerly Heritage Center Association).
Another opportunity to to voice opinions wil be during the October 6th First Friday event on the Public Square.
